History

Forty-four years ago, a young man who had the desire to run his car down a 1/4 mile drag strip, convinced his father to convert a hay field into Prince Edward Island’s only drag-racing facility.

With the help of other would-be drag racers, Raceway Park was born, and ran its first meet in the summer of 1971. There has been drag racing at Raceway Park every summer since then.

In 1971, Muscle Cars were king, and the Beach Boys “Little Deuce Couple” and “GTO” songs brought everyone to drag racing, on the street, and at the track.

Today, we are in a new Muscle Car era with Camaros, Mustangs and Chargers back at the track, joined by Hondas, Toyotas and Mazdas.

Whether you are a professional racer, an amateur racer or on-vacation and wanting to learn how to drag race, Raceway Park can accommodate your racing passion.

And, drag racing at Raceway Park can be for everyone in the family. Our racers are aged 7 to 70 years, and include dads, kids, moms, granddads and grandmas.

Give drag racing a try. It may become one of your passions in life. Contact us for information on getting started in drag racing.
