Raceway Part will be hosting its first annual KOOL KAR NATIONALS event with support from the tourist associates in the North Shore Area and City of Charlottetown. This will be a combination “Show & Shine” for muscle cars, street cars, sport compact cars, antiques, street rods, race cars, etc., that will be available for all to see plus several other events.
The Kool Kar Nationals will start on the evening of August 2nd at Raceway Park then continue through Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Thursday and Friday will see lots of entrants locating their car display areas for both their cars and their swap meet parts and goodies. Food and beverages and a welcome area will be available to all early arrivals with special prizes and surprises for early birds.
A special service will be provided all day Saturday and Sunday A shuttle service, for those families that have varied plans or ladies with a shopping trip in mind, shuttle buses will be taking our guests to both the Charlottetown and North Shore Cavendish Areas, several times those two days. Check out the many P.E.I. sites for places to see , visit, shop and play. Guys and girls, as they get registered, will follow through to the social area, where the music will be playing and everyone meets and greets. While the music plays, a movie will be playing on a large outside screen, to provide the “Drive In Movie “atmosphere with the staff attired in appropriate clothing.
Saturday from 10a.m. to 4 p.m., the drag strip will be available to any and all cars that would like to make a pass down the strip or have a race against their buddy.
At 4 p.m. the Kool Kar Drive for Fun will leave the track for a tour of the North Shore Area, with several pre-arranged stops along the route. The Fun Drive will finish the North Shore Area with a run along the scenic National Park beach highway. The Kool Kars then head for Charlottetown for arrival between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the Charlottetown Waterfront.
The cars will park and display along the dock surrounding the newly renovated potato warehouse on the Waterfront as well as in a reserved parking area. To highlight the evening, Tourism Charlottetown will present a noted entertainment group to perform from 8p.m. to 11 p.m. in the warehouse to a crowd of up to 3,000 people. Local businesses are participating in this event by helping to promote the “Rock & Roll” aura with food, staff outfits and appearances. Also, by ending the waterfront show at 11p.m., all our travelers will get to finish off their night with a visit to the night clubs and/or restaurants in the Charlottetown Area.
While these events are taking place in Charlottetown, Raceway Park will be presenting a special night of Stock Car Racing featuring Island cars as well as hosting the Maritime Legend Tour of two-thirds scale old style stock cars. Sunday at Raceway Park, will again see the shuttle buses taking people to and from their destinations plus the arrival of many people to both view and participate in the “Show & Shine”. The vehicles will be on display all day, with the swap meet and venders in operation, and lots of folks coming and going to other Island sites. Late afternoon will bring on the “Show & Shine” award presentations finishing up the Kool Kar Nationals.
